ERPHILA DORSET CHEERY CHINTZ Gold Trim Round 6 Part Divided Tray Relish 6588

Description

This is a lovely 6 section round relish or platter from Germany
in the Dorset Cheery Chintz pattern with gold trim and gently scalloped edge
Erphila is not the maker, but the importer (see below)
Most of these that I have seen are 4 sections around a center section,
this one is 5 sections around the circular center
Measures 11.5" diameter (29 centimeters)
In good vintage condition, 3/8" round chip on the underneath edge (not visible from top/front)
there is some wear to the gold trim that divides each section

Erphila is a mark found on Czechoslovakian and other pottery and porcelain made after 1920.
This mark was used on items imported by Ebeling & Reuss of Philadelphia, a giftware firm that was founded in 1866 and out of business sometime after 2002.
The mark is a combination of the letters
E
and
R
(Ebeling & Reuss) and the first letters of the city, Phila(delphia).
Erphila
is one of many marks used by American importers. Many whimsical figural pitchers and creamers, figurines, platters, and other giftwares carry this mark.
