You are bidding on a very rare original antique engraving from an 1860s French illustrated journal.
It depicts a hunting party with English pointer dogs. THey are hunting the grey partridge (Perdix
perdix
), also known as the English partridge, Hungarian partridge, or hun, is a gamebird in the pheasant family Phasianidae of the order Galliformes, gallinaceous birds. The scientific name is the Latin for "partridge", and is itself derived from Ancient Greek perdix.
The caption  roughly translates to:  The Gray Partridges
The page measures approximately 10.4 x 7.5 inches (26.5 x 19 cm). The picture itself fills about half the page, and measures about 8.6 x 5.5 inches, with a French caption below. It is surrounded by unrelated text. The text could easily be trimmed before framing, or hidden under a window mat.
The page is in excellent condition for its age.
