Dog Briquet Griffon Vendéen, Grand GV, Breed ID'd, 1870s Antique Print & Article

Description

You are bidding on a very rare original antique engraving from an 1870s French illustrated journal.
It depicts a beautiful Griffin dog, which appears to be a Briquet Griffon Vendéen (Medium Vendéen Griffon) or Grand  Griffon Vendéen. Most interesting is that the picture is surrounded by text on the Griffon Dog breeds as they were a century and a half ago. The article is in French, but free online translation programs makes translations easy.
The caption reads:  Le Griffon
which roughly translates to:
The Griffon dog
It is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 14.5 inches (26.5 x 36.5 cm). The picture area is about
7 x 5.5 inches (18 x 14 cm), with a French caption below and text above it. The text could easily be trimmed before framing, or hidden under a window mat.
The page is in excellent condition for its age.
