"Mother and Baby"
is a handcrafted soft sculptured Amish mother doll holding her child that measures approximately 15" on their stand. By Artist Dorothy Billings/ May-8th 1990/The Gentle Folk." Dorothy Billings is a well acclaimed American doll artist from Paris, Missouri, who focused on creating aspects of Amish life through her soft sculptured dolls in her series of "The Gentle Folk" dolls. "Mother And Baby" measures approximately 14" in height and is attached to a stand.
Their stuffed cloth bodies are gently poseable. Both Mother's and her Baby's nylon stockinette faces are needle sculpted and delicately painted in a sensitive and expressive manner. Their faces exhibit emotion and realism. Their dark hair is fashioned from mohair or wool. Both dolls are dressed in traditional Amish clothing that has been pinned to their bodies in areas. Previously owned by an adult collector, Mother And Baby sustain light dust from display.
